Ballet

Pre Ballet 1 - 3.5 to 4 years old

A 30 minute class with a maximum enrollment of 8 children (12 with an assistant). Pre Ballet 3-½-4 begins the building blocks of ballet. Our Curriculum focuses on the basis steps while developing fine motor skills in a disciplined yet nurturing environment.

Pre Ballet 2 - 5 to 7 years old

Pre Ballet 5-7 is structured so that the children are exposed to a variety of rhythmical, coordination and musical exercises along with basic ballet skills, appropriate for their age. The 45 minute class incorporates gentle strengthening and stretching exercises, as well as developing balance, posture, discipline, and self confidence.

Pre Ballet 3 - 6 to 7 years old

This one-hour class continues teaching ballet basics at a slightly more complex level and introduces more basic barre & center work.

Beginning Ballet 1 - 8 to 12 years old

This one-hour class introduces new students to ballet basics. It is slightly more structured than a jazz or tap class, but it builds a stronger foundation for the future. Students will learn proper warm-up techniques, fun floor activities, center work with basic ballet steps and body directions, and larger movements across the floor.

Beginning Ballet 2 & 3 - 8 to 12 years old

In these levels dancers will have a good understanding of classroom etiquette and structure. They will have acquired a basic knowledge of rhythmical, musical, and technical skills and vocabulary from which to build and expand. In these levels, ballet movements are introduced gradually allowing time for the body to build strength and grow into the technical demands asked of their bodies.

Intermediate Ballet 1 & 2 - 9+ years old

At the Intermediate levels, classes are 1 ½ hours, with a minimum requirement of two classes per week. Pre-Pointe and Pointe level 1 is offered for females who are a minimum of eleven years old and have at least two years of ballet training and the strength required for pointe work. Placement in pointe class is at the discretion of the Director.

Intermediate Ballet 3 - 12+/Advanced - 15+

Intermediate/Advanced - Dancers will know classroom etiquette and structure. At the conclusion of these levels, dancers will have an expansive ballet vocabulary and be capable of executing most steps. Throughout the students' training in these levels, they will continue to improve their ballet technique with repetition and attention to detail as well as strengthening and stretching exercises. They are able to maintain their strength and coordination with the addition of complicated and challenging combinations of steps.

Beginning Teen/Adult - 13+ years old

This ballet enrollment class introduces the fundamental principles of Ballet and will build week to week. Basic positions of the feet and arms, proper alignment, ballet vocabulary, barre exercises and center work will be taught and reviewed in depth. This class will break down the steps and provide students with exercises that build strength, increase flexibility and provide a foundation that can be applied to all dance styles.

Intermediate Teen/Adult - 13+ years old

Beauty, flow and elegance are inherent in the elements of ballet. Ballet is the classical dance form that can be mastered by itself or used as a technical base or supplement to other dance forms. Classes focus on overall body alignment and awareness with emphasis on proper usage of feet and legs and execution of turnout. Carriage and usage of upper torso and arms are also stressed. Traditional barre work, center work and combinations are included in this class.

Musical Theater
Beginning 1 & 2 - 8+ years old

Beginning Musical Theater 1 & 2 focuses on building the basic skills of style, character, and presentation. Each student will learn beginning level steps and combinations. Musical theater choreography will be introduced into the class as the levels of the dancers progress. *Beginning MT 2 includes 30 minutes of vocal warm-ups, exercises, and group singing.

Intermediate - 10+ & Teen/Adult - 13+

Class begins with a set modern/jazz warm-up, touching on the styles of Horton, Limon, Luigi, Fosse, Cole-and focuses on the combination of isolations, basic ballet and jazz technique and presentation. From beginning to end, class is structured to give the student the experience of being in a Company, on stage, working together through a Company warm-up, rehearsal and a final performance. Pieces are chosen from both classic and modern musicals, and often incorporate blocking, partnering, scene, song and dance.

Contemporary Ballet

Contemporary Ballet 1 & 2 - 11+ years old

One and a half hour class based in Graham, Horton, and Limon Modern dance technique. Students’ dance vocabulary will be expanded using contractions, off-balance, bound and released movement and transitions.

Acting & Improv

Beginning Acting & Improv - 8+ years old

This class is designed to build the basic skills needed in theater performance. The class focuses on three key tools; the body, the voice, and the mind. It is through the development of these three elements that we can build a strong foundation to understand the techniques used in drama.

Imagination Theater

Imaginative Story Time - 2 to 7 years old

This story time is full of creativity, drama, color and imagination. The students will learn the art of story telling through passive and active techniques of listening and imaginative play. Our activities will build the understanding of character, setting, and plot. Children also learn to share space, time, and attention with their classmates.

Sing & Dance - 2 to 7 years old

The class uses imaginative, fun musical activities to build strength, flexibility, and body awareness; and improve gross motor skills, coordination, and posture. Special musical activities help develop a child's sense of rhythm and an awareness of the rich language of music. Includes floor work; basic, introductory tumbling and other mat work; and large movements across the floor. Children also learn to share space, time, and attention with their classmates.

Puppet Theater - 2 to 7 years old

To nurture the imagining powers of young people is to lead them to be the problem solvers of the future. Puppetry is a many faceted art form, encompassing movement, visual art, story composition, and performance skills. Workshops in puppetry encourage learning in all styles (verbal, visual, kinesthetic, etc.), as well as promote life skills such as creative thinking, collaborative learning, self motivation, and much more.
